A new cycleway is coming but first we need your help on the design.
Te Puke is a growing town with a bright future but with growth comes the need for smarter solutions. That's where our new cycleway comes into play!
We’re planning for growth by creating new ways to get around town that are more sustainable, safe, accessible and active.
The new cycleway route is a community initiative led by Te Ara Kahikatea Pathyway Society, and we’ve used their plans to create designs that are suited for riders of any age and ability. To create a space safe for every user.
The route connects four schools in Te Puke to the centre of town – making it much easier and safer for tamariki and rangatahi to ride, walk and scooter to school.
The cycleway design
- Is approximately 4.2km long
- Has a mix of 3m to 5m wide shared path and 2.7m wide two-way cycleway
- Includes some new footpath and many new pedestrian crossings
- Suitable for anyone to use
There are two concept designs for the new cycleway, and we want you to vote for your favourite.
Design one is on the inside of proposed loop and Design two is on the outside of proposed loop.
They’re the same community-designed route, but on opposite sides of the road. Why? The side of the road the cycleway is on affects things like crossings and car parks. Take a look at the details and let us know which one you prefer.
