COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON WILSON PARK IS NOW CLOSED.

What do you love to do at Wilson Park? Stroll through the Sunday market? Linger over a long picnic lunch?

We’re reviewing our plans for Wilson Park and want to know what the Waihī Beach community uses Wilson Park for, and what we could put in place to ensure it continues to be one of your favourite spots.

The last plan for the reserve was completed in 2006, and at that time the community wanted to add

  • amphitheatre seating and steps,
  • a drinking fountain,
  • outdoor lighting and
  • a retaining wall to promote the site as an events space.

Budget constraints around then meant these plans didn’t progress. So now Council would like to know - is this plan still fit-for purpose? And how do you want Wilson Park to be developed in the future?

It’s been 15 years since the community last shared their ideas - now we need to check back in to see how your aspirations may have changed.

It’s really important that park users get in touch and share their feedback, so our plans can reflect the current and future uses of the park.

Following this stage of community engagement, the next steps is for Council to develop a draft concept plan for community consultation in June/July 2022, followed by seeking funding through the Annual Plan process.

Tell us what you think in the survey and on the plan below.
