Consultation on the Water Rates Remission Policy Review ended at 5pm, Friday 9 April 2021.

On Tuesday 29 June 2021, Council will formally adopt the Water Rates Remission Policy. The public are welcome to attend this meeting.

Policy comes into effect 1 July 2021.

This policy allows for water rates to be partly written off for ratepayers who have suffered a water leak.

Reviewing the policy allows Council to make sure that it reflects current situations, that the policy delivers on its purpose and that Council meets its legislative requirements.

Have your say before 5pm, Friday 9 April 2021.

Key changes proposed in the draft policy:

The policy is largely working well.

There are several minor changes (mostly editorial) required to the policy necessary for clarity, such as clearly setting out where property owners’ responsibility begins and Council’s ends, what we expect in an application, and removing duplication with Council’s Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Water.

More information:

  • See the Statement of Proposal and Draft Policy in the Key Documents section for full details on the proposed changes.
