Consultation has concluded. Thank you for your feedback. Council will consider this as part of its decision-making process. We will be in touch at the end of June 2019 to let you know the decisions that are made.

Update 26 June 2019:

  • Rates rise slightly for Western Bay - read more.
  • Western Bay of Plenty District Council adopted its 2019/20 Annual Plan today setting an average rates increase of 3.1 percent, slightly less than last year’s increase of 3.6 percent.
  • The increase, of which inflation accounts for 2.2 percent maintains Council’s Long Term Plan (2018-2028) pledge to keep total rate increases below four percent (excluding population growth) for existing ratepayers over the 10 years from 2018-2028.

Council is proposing a number of changes to Fees and Charges.

Feedback closes 4pm, Thursday 18 April 2019

REASONS FOR THE PROPOSAL:

The purpose of reviewing the Fees and Charges is to ensure that each charge will recover the actual and reasonable costs associated with:

  • Goods, services or amenities provided by the local authority.
  • The issuing or monitoring of permits, inspections and other approvals associated with Council's bylaws.
  • Processing and making decisions in relation to resource consents, plan changes and designations, and fulfilling certain other regulatory obligations under legislation that empowers Council to prescribe fees, including the Resource Management Act 1991, Building Act 2004, Food Act 2014, Health Act 1956, Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, Dog Control Act 1996.
