Consultation has concluded

Kia ora Katikati,

We’re looking to develop the Beach Road boat ramp and surrounds, which includes the boat ramp, esplanade foreshore reserve, MacMillan Reserve, and 294 Beach Road and we want to know what you think.

This multifunctional space has been a much loved location for recreational activities, bringing together our community members, boaties, water enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, freedom campers, tangata whenua, and visitors

The Council team have worked with local hapū, Ngāi Tamawhariua and the Katikati Boating Club to understand the importance of the area and its many uses, and to create a draft plan that enhances this space, so it meets the diverse needs of the community and incorporating the rich cultural and historical heritage of the area.

Our draft concept plan outlines our approach to make this this an enhanced shared space for all. The improvements will include:

  • Raising and widening the first 30 meters of the boat ramp
  • Installation of features to tell the cultural and historical story of the area
  • Creating more open green space for new picnic areas
  • Upgrading the public rest rooms
  • Adding more public car parking, including dedicated boat trailer parking for the boating community.
  • Coastal margin planting to help protect the area and reduce erosion to the esplanade foreshore reserve
  • Established pedestrian connections throughout the area to improve visibility to moving traffic.

Tell us what you think.

Have a look at the draft concept plan and let us know your thoughts. The FAQs, are also available to help answer any questions you might have.

You can provide your feedback by filling out our survey below. Alternatively,

Hard copy, pepa maro - Available at the Pātuki Manawa Katikati Library and Service Centre.

In person, a kanohi - Sunday 24 March, 9am-12pm. Meet at the boat ramp, Beach Road, Katikati.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this exciting project.
