Consultation has concluded

UPDATE: April 2023 - The final concept plan has been adopted.

Your feedback on the proposed draft concept plan was invaluable in creating the final concept plan for Arawa Road, and Council has agreed to adopt it using a staged approach of implementation.

What’s changed?

The proposed community garden was not included in the final concept plan based on community feedback.

There will be improved management and maintenance of the pumice track to enhance access for walking and cycling.

Next steps

The first stage of implementation will be carried out in the short term (next 1-2 years) where we will enhance the use of the road reserve for recreation purposes including:

  • Development of natural play features
  • Maintaining the existing pumice track including periodic mowing and removal of grazing
  • Working with the adjacent property owner to realign the fence with the correct road reserve boundary

We have included funding in the proposed Annual Plan 2023/24 for this.

Decision Story

Whether you’ve been part of the process up to this point or heard about the project more recently, the Arawa Road Decision Story will provide you with key milestones, the reasons we reached these decisions, and who helped us along the way.
